Part 1: Perform material and operation updates
1. Click the Open icon on the toolbar.
2. Type engineering ch in the Filter field.
3. Click the Engineering Change Notice list item.
4. Click the OK button. The Engineering Change Notices (Filter in Place) form opens.
5. Click the Filter in Place icon.
6. Click to select [your ECN] from the grid on the left.
7. Click the ECN Items button. The Engineering Change Notice Items (Linked) form opens.
8. Click the Type drop-down arrow.
9. Click the Current Material list item.
10. Type sa* in the Item field.
11. Click the Item drop-down arrow.
12. Click the SA-61500 list item.
13. Type REV-1 in the Revision field.
14. Press Tab. A dialog box opens with the message, “Item that has [Item: SA-61500] and [Revision:
REV-1] does not exist.”
15. Click the OK button. A dialog box opens with the message, “Value is required for Operation. Do
you want to change the value now?”
16. Click the Yes button.
17. Click the Operation drop-down arrow.
18. Click the 10 list item.
19. Click the Seq drop-down arrow.
20. Click the 3 list item.
21. Type 48 in the Qty field.
22. Click the Save icon.
23. Click the New icon.
24. Click the Type drop-down arrow.
25. Click the Current Operation list item.
26. Type sa-61500 in the Item field.
27. Type REV-1 in the Revision field.
28. Press Tab. A dialog box opens with the message, “Item that has [Item: SA-61500] and [Revision:
REV-1] does not exist.”
29. Click the OK button.
30. Click the Operation drop-down arrow.
31. Click the 10 list item.
32. Type 0.15 into the Run Lbr Hours field.
33. Click the Save icon.
34. Click the Window drop-down arrow on the menu bar.
35. Click the Close All list item.
Part 2: Perform material substitution
1. Click the Open icon on the toolbar.
2. Type material sub in the Filter field.
3. Click the Material Substitution ECN Item Generation list item.
4. Click the OK button. The Material Substitution ECN Item Generation form opens.
5. Click the To ECN drop-down arrow.
6. Click the [your ECN] list item.
7. Click the calendar icon in the Effective Date field. A calendar displays with the current month
and year visible.
8. Click the [first day of the next month] option. The Effective Date field populates.
9. Click to clear the Estimate check box.
10. Click to clear the Job check box.
11. Type ta* in the Current Material field.
12. Click the Current Material drop-down arrow.
13. Click the TA-30000 list item.
14. Type ta* in the Substitute Material field.
15. Click the Substitute Material drop-down arrow.
16. Click the TA-31000 list item.
17. Verify the Preview radio button is selected.
18. Click the Process button. A dialog box opens with the message, “X Job Material(s) were
displayed.”
19. Click the OK button. The grid on the form lists the items affected by the change.
20. Click to select the Select check boxes for all items in the grid.
21. Click to select the Commit radio button.
22. Click the Process button. A dialog box opens with the message, “[Material Substitution ECN Item
Generation] will be performed.”
23. Click the OK button. A dialog box opens with the message, “XX ECN Line(s) were created.”
24. Click the OK button.
Note: You can verify that the items were added to the ECN by opening the ECN record and
clicking ECN items. Two line items should have been added for each item affected by the
substitution - one for the old item with an obsolete date and one for the substitute item with an
effective date.
25. Click the X on the Material Substitution ECN Item Generation form
