Part 1: Identify POs that require expediting
1. Click the Open icon on the toolbar. The Select Form dialog box opens.
2. Type planning detail in the Filter field.
3. Click the web.PlanningDetail list item.
4. Click the OK button. The Planning Detail (Filter in Place) form opens.
5. Type [your initials] in the Planner field.
6. Click the Filter in Place icon. The Planning Detail (Filter in Place) form refreshes with all
planning records for your items.
7. Click the Maximize button on the slider grid to display grid view.
8. Click the Filter in Place icon.
9. Click the Exception Message field.
Note: you may need to scroll right to display this column.
10. Click the Exception Message drop-down arrow.
11. Click the Expedited* list item.
12. Click the Filter in Place icon. The Planning Detail (Filter in Place) form refreshes with any of
your planning records that APS has identified for expediting.
13. Scroll right to view additional columns.
14. Verify that the Reference column now identifies the planning record type as PO for the lines you
processed in Exercise 3.4.
15. Verify that the Exception Messages column displays information about any item projecting late.
Note: This column also displays any other exception messages, such as Move In Rcpt or Move
Out Rcpt.
Part 2: Identify other exceptions
1. Click the Filter in Place icon.
2. Click the Planner field.
3. Press Delete.
Note: Deleting the planner code will generate more results for illustration purpose in this exercise.
In a production environment, you will normally retain the filter for your planner code.
4. Click the Exception Message field.
5. Press Delete.
6. Click the Exception Message drop-down arrow.
7. Click the Move In Rcpt* list item.
8. Click the Filter in Place icon. The Planning Detail (Filter in Place) form refreshes with any
records that APS has identified for an earlier due date.
Note: You can repeat this process for each of the exception message types identified above.
9. Click the Filter in Place icon.
10. Click the Exception Message field.
11. Press Delete.
12. Click the Filter in Place icon. The Planning Detail (Filter in Place) form refreshes with all
planning records.
13. Review any messages displayed in the Exception Messages column.
Note: When the Planning Detail form displays a limited number of records, you may want to view
all records and scan this column for exceptions. However, when there are many records
displayed, filtering for specific exception messages provides an efficient way to identify orders
which require action.
14. Click the X on the Planning Detail form
