Set forecast parameters

Part 1: View Planning Parameters settings
1. Click the Open icon on the toolbar. The Select Form dialog box opens.
2. Type Planning Parameters in the Filter field.
3. Click the Planning Parameters list item.
4. Click the OK button. The Planning Parameters form opens.
5. Verify Use CO or Forecast field is set to Both.
6. Note the values in the Forecast Look Ahead and Forecast Look Behind fields. 
Note: Remember, the values in these fields on the Planning Parameters form apply only when 
these same fields are blank on the Product Codes form.
7. Click the Save icon if you changed the value in the Use CO or Forecast field.
Part 2: Set the look ahead and look behind range on the Product Codes form
1. Click the Open icon on the toolbar. The Select Form dialog box opens.
2. Type Items in the Filter field.
3. Click the web.Items list item. Note: The web.forms will be listed under the Name column.
4. Click the OK button. The Items form opens.
5. Click the Filter in Place icon.
6. Type [your initials]-DCBT-100 in the Item field.
Note: This item record was created in the exercises in the Fundamentals of APS course. Be sure 
to complete the exercises in Appendix C: Fundamentals of APS course exercises if you did not 
complete them in that course before proceeding.
7. Click the Filter in Place icon. Your deluxe child bicycle trailer record opens.
8. Right click the Product Code field. A menu displays.
9. Click the Details menu item. The Product Codes form opens for the record FG-100.
10. Type 30 in the Look Ahead field in the Forecast section. A dialog box opens with the message, 
“Upon save, forecast consumption will be performed for all Items. This process could take several 
minutes.”
11. Click the OK button.
12. Type 0 in the Look Behind field in the Forecast section. A dialog box opens with the message, 
“Upon save, forecast consumption will be performed for all Items. This process could take several 
minutes.”
13. Click the OK button.
Note: These look ahead and look behind settings allow you to set a forecast at the beginning of 
the month, which triggers APS to plan so you have the forecasted quantity ready at the beginning 
of the month. Then all of the customer orders that come during that month will look behind and 
consume that forecast. 
14. Click the Save icon.
15. Click the X on the Planning Parameters form.
16. Click the X on the Product Codes form. 
17. Click the X on the Items form
